Flats Fishing Slam
Winter Time Fishing In Florida
Cold fronts during Florida's winters can be a great time to pursue inshore fish species in the Lagoons along the east coast. Chris Rosenquist and John Miller spent a balmy winter day
in February with Captain Richard Bradley on the Banana River.
"Richard showed us where the fish were and we caught
them. It's easy, just try for yourself", explained
Catching three of four flat species is regarded as a SLAM.
Matthew and his brother and father caught Big Trout, nice
redfish and a couple of tarpon to boot. If any of them would
have landed the snook early in the morning they would have
made the coveted GRAND SLAM!
"Many of my anglers come back year after year during the winter to enjoy Florida's mild weather and good fishing. We get a cold front every couple of weeks typically and anglers take advantage of the fishing between fronts when it's often 72°F and perfect for spending a day on the water in search of redfish, trout, snook and tarpon. If the weather is exceptionally calm you might venture out into the ocean for a fantastic day of fishing off the beaches and maybe a little farther onto the reefs." Explains Captain Richard of Lagooner Fishing Guides and Charters.
